It is my sad duty to report that on May 11, 2018, the board of directors of Sigma Nu Fraternity, Inc, suspended the charter of the Delta Delta Chapter of Sigma Nu at Penn State University due to operational deficiencies which the chapter has failed to sufficiently cure over the last 18 months.  This recommendation is supported by the advisory and house corporation alumni leaders of the Delta Delta Chapter. It would be the intent of the General Fraternity (aka National) and alumni leadership to re-establish the chapter, via complete recolonization, after, the planned 5 year lease of the chapter house to another organization (to be announced). The General Fraternity would, most likely, recommend recolonization begin approximately one year prior to the time when that lease would expire and we would want chapter members to regain occupancy. Find out more.

For background information leading up to this suspension, please go to www.sigmanu-psu.org and read the 2016 – 2017 Annual Report. Since the date of that report, the chapter failed to complete the vast majority of the General Fraternity’s mandated Plan of Action. In addition: (1) no bids were accepted in the fall of 2017 and no bids were extended by the chapter in the spring of 2018; (2) brothers would not commit to living in the chapter house next year; and (3) the chapter refused to assist in acquiring boarders to make up for the residency shortfall. I’m preparing an update to that report which will detail the chapter’s actions and lack thereof that led to this decision. The update will be posted on our web site as soon as it’s completed. Please hold your questions until that time.
